Users and teams

Permissions and access

Viewing other users

Visibility of other users is subject to team policy. When talking visibility, we talk about viewing user details in the user module.

  • A free policy makes all users visible.

  • A team policy makes users from ones team visible.

  • A restricted policy only makes other users visible on teams where one is teamleader.

Selecting other users

Selecting other users is the process of selecting a user, ie. as a task responsible, a customer contact, responsible for a sales quotation etc.

Which user is selectable varies across the system, so there is no rule-of-thumb.

  • In the CRM system all users can be selected no matter what.

  • On tasks one can select all users which they share a team with, and there is an option to upgrade this to all users.

  • In the sales module, one can only select users which they can administrate, meaning that they are team leader on a team where the user is a member.

Editing other users

Editing a user needs the user_edit-permission, and from there is restricted as follows:

  • You can always edit yourself.

  • A administrator can edit every user.

  • With a free policy one can edit every other user.

  • With a team policy one can edit all users to which they share a team.

  • With a restricted policy one can edit all users on teams where one is teamleader.

A user can only give the same access to teams, as they carry themselves. So one can grant teamleadership to all teams where one is teamleader and the same with ordinary membership.

Viewing teams

All teams are always visible, no matter policy.

Selecting teams

Selecting teams is the same as selecting user. Practice differs across the system:

  • In CRM and on tasks you can select all teams.

  • In the sales module, you can only select teams you are attached to.

Editing teams

Editing team requires the team_edit-permission and carrying this permissions grants access to editing (and thereby viewing) all teams. Even with this permission there is still the team assignment restrictions as described under editing other users
