This is the project planning tool where you can build you project and group it into phases, tasks, appointment and future activities.
Before we introduce you to this part, we'll give you a learning oef the basic elements.
As seen below, an example of how a simple gantt project could look like.
The left side: (data side)
Here we see the data representation of the plan. This is where the user will input information to create a project plan.
The data objects are:
- Activities and groups: Each row represent an activity. Something that has to be done in order to complete the project. Activity groups are used to group/relate activities together
- Tasks: When an activity needs to be completed, it is useful to attach a task to it, as it will then be possible to execute as normal tasks are done
- Calendar appointments: Meetings are often an important part of a project, and therefore the activities can be attached to calendar appointments
The right side: (gantt side)
Here we see the result of the input data from the left side.
A visual representation of the project plan, giving the viewer a simple and easy to read timeline of the project.
There are also some interaction options centered around the ability to plan tasks and calendar appointments.
The essentials
Duration, estimate, progress and dependencies
When you have created your activities and groups, you can now edit the duration, which is number of working days between the start- and end date.
Estimate is the estimated time for the activity which can be used when creating tasks afterwards.
Progress is a manual setting of the completion of the current activity or group. Group progress is automatically calculated with the sub activities.
Dependencies is used to set a relation between the start- and end dates of different activities.
See example of the use below.
Columns
Here you can set which columns from the objects that should be showed in the gantt-sheet below.
You can select column information from tasks and appointments as shown below
Setup
Here you can set up styles, colors for the gantt view and work weeks for the project. These can be changed per project but the default is setup in the SETTINGS > SETUP.
